For Creatives (and many others), Instagram is the most popular social media platform. Installation of the Instagram Feed Plugin by Smash Balloon allows you to show your Instagram Feed on your site or to display any hashtag or feed from any public Instagram feed. Once it is set up, you can display the Instagram Feed in your sidebar, footer, blog post, or any page. You can even display different feeds in different places on your site.
First, download, install and activate the Instagram Feed plugin.
You’ll see a new area on the left-hand side menu of your WordPress dashboard titled ‘Instagram Feed’.
From the Instagram Feed dashboard page, you’ll select Configure. Click on the large blue button to Connect an Instagram Account, and sign in to the account you want to display. When that is completed, click Save Changes. The other default settings are fine to leave as is.
Next, you’ll choose the ‘Customize’ tab at the top. There are several areas on this page to set and you’ll need to scroll through all of them. I’ve broken them down section by section, but they are all on the same page.
This first section will be set depending on how you want your feed displayed. In this instance, my Instagram feed is displayed in a row of 8 images across the bottom of my page, so I chose 8 photos in 8 columns.
You’ll want to uncheck show feed header and show bio text in most cases. Click save changes.
Lastly, on this page, you’ll want to choose to show the load more and follow buttons. In most cases, I uncheck these.
The final section provides you with the shortcode to use. In almost all cases, you’ll just want to use
